From Soldier to Self: Rhi’s Portrait Journey of Vulnerability
Some stories unfold quietly over time – layer by layer, image by image.
When I first met Ryan, there were already so many parts of him that existed… but weren’t allowed to be seen.
Over the years, through multiple artworks, I had the privilege of witnessing something rare:
Not a transformation into someone new.
But the gradual emergence of someone who had always been there.
Today, that person has a name: Rhi.
When Seeing Yourself Changes Everything
What was it like to see your inner world manifested on paper for the first time?
“To say it’s been life changing would still feel like an understatement.”
When Rhi first discovered Kinky Karrot years ago, the connection was instant – but so was the fear.
There was fascination. Recognition. Even excitement.
But also shame.
“I wouldn’t even follow the account afraid someone would see.”
The turning point came with a commission.
At first, it was “just” an idea: a tattoo of his wife, embodying her Domme energy within their private dynamic.
But creating that piece meant sharing something hidden.
And in that moment, something shifted.
“What started as a transaction between an artist and customer turned into a connection… and a journey I could have never imagined.”
The first artwork didn’t just represent a fantasy.
It gave that part of him permission to exist.
