TIPS FROM OUR COMMUNITY

Take the time to actively tune in to how you are feeling, and listen to what that feeling is trying to tell you about what you need at that moment, rest/hugs/a workout ETC.

What does body positivemean?

As a society, we are constantly pressured by impossible beauty standards. Especially women.

Diversity doesn’t have a place in mainstream media as it pasteurizes the looks of different people, making us believe that when it comes to beauty one size fits all - and then profiting off the insecurities this belief causes. For us, this is some bullshit. Diversity is what makes us strong and beautiful and we want to empower people to feel sexy and amazing without imposing any beauty standards.

MAN WITH A VULVA

STORY BY CARL

Hello! My name is Christopher and I have a vulva. That might sound weird at first and for some it might sound bewildering, totally new or like one would exclude the other – but that’s just how it is. And that’s also what I would like to tell you something about today...

PLEASURE PIECES

TIPS BY TROY

The most sacred part of the human body is our pleasure piece. Like any other treasured item, keeping it well-maintained means it will look stunning, remain durable, and have everlasting memories....

What contraception should I use?

This is a common question, and there is no right answer. The options are many and vary A LOT, so a good talk with your doctor will be the best way to determine what’s right for your specific case. And if you want to know what contraception protects against STDs, note that only condoms are effective in that - and be mindful they need to be used correctly!

SAFE SEX IS GOOD SEX

STIs are a real risk in sex - the good news is there are tons of ways you can have sex responsibly. Using condoms should be the standard - but you should also include dental dams and finger protection if you have multiple partners. Getting tested regularly is also an important practice for good sexual hygiene. And remember; when it comes to safe sex, the more information you have, the more protected you are.

START MASTURBATING!

Masturbation - especially female masturbation - is sadly a taboo. BUT, it shouldn’t be! Masturbation has been proved to be healthy. It can help you to have better sex, since you get to know your body and erogenous zones better. It’s also linked to improve mental health, regulated sleep cycles, and can even help with chronic pain!

One way to amp up your alone time is to incorporate sex toys. There are so many different options available - for sure you can find one that is right for you. And there is no shame in buying vibrators or dildos - and they also don’t mean your partner is not doing a good job. It’s simply a way to spice things up and have more fun!

VOICES FROM OUR COMMUNITY

Something I've learned about mental health, is to embrace the sad days, because we can't be happy without some sadness to level it out, and we can't be happy 100% of the time. I've now reached a point I understand my sad days mean happy days are on the way. It has helped me overcome some of the other negativity that revolves around depression.

THE SHADOWS OF SEXUALITY

Sexual boundaries are one of the most important tools to have a healthy and positive sex life. Learning how to say no and understanding your limits. That’s the only way to prioritize your pleasure - especially in a society that takes away our sexual agency!

Sex can be a great source of happiness, but can also bring a lot of pain. Body shame, body dysphoria, traumas and repressed fantasies can affect you, and cause depression, anxiety, and other problems. The good news is, there are a lot of tools out there to help you balance your relationship with your sexuality, such as tantra, sexual therapy - even finding a community can be therapeutic.

Having a healthy sex life after going through trauma and/or abuse is complicated and scary. But we promise you; these horrible experiences do not have to shape the way you’ll experience sex for the rest of your life! A lot of people find kink is an amazing tool to help them heal from sexual trauma, and regain agency over their sexuality. And always, the help of a therapist is essential in recovering your confidence!

Non sexual self care is so important, TOO. doing the things for yourself that fill your own inner "cup" allows you to then pour into others. You can't pour from an empty cup.
